Rydal Mount is set on 3 acres and becomes a private rural retreat for your group. It is used regularly by artists groups, for church retreats and by extended families as well as those with more formal conferences and training programs. The property is the historic former schoolmaster's residence and adjacent buildings. We have no minimum number, but you would need to pay a minimum equivalent to twelve people.

Rydal Mount has 9 bedrooms:

5 rooms - twin beds (with adjacent shared bathrooms)
1 room - double bed plus a single bed (adjacent shared bathroom)
2 rooms - double bed with 2 single beds (en suite)
1 room - single bed, very small room (adjacent shared bathroom)

additional beds can be added to some rooms


Well equipped conference room
The conference room seats up to 30. There are whiteboards, overhead and slide projectors and a video player. Several other rooms can be used for breakaway groups. No extra charge for the conference room for those in residence. There are 8 yoga mats available for groups wanting to use them. The Directors of Rydal Mount can help you with planning, organisation and facilitation.

Great facilities
Rydal Mount has a large country style living room, built in 1869. Just the place for your group to relax in comfortable chairs, talking, listening to music, playing board games or enjoying a book selected from the small interesting library. There is also a piano for your use. The living room has a wood fire place, creating a wonderful atmosphere on a cold winter's night (firewood provided) there are other small sitting rooms and a dining room which seats 30 or more.

Catering
There is a modern, fully equipped kitchen and you can prepare meals on a self-catering basis. We also have caterers who can prepare country-style meals for you. There is a range of menus for breakfast, lunch (picnic baskets also available) and dinner.

Warm in winter, nice all seasons
Yes, it does get cold in Rydal in winter (sometimes it snows), but the main building is centrally heated and all rooms are warm. All beds have doonas and electric blankets. The open wood burning fire is a feature.

Things to do outside
There is a croquet lawn (and equipment) and plenty of space for other outdoor activities. There are 14 mountain bikes which are available for your group to explore the local area. There is no additional charge to use the bikes and sporting equipment. The property is surrounded by farms and forest and there are pleasant places to walk in and around the village. Parrots and other birds abound and kangaroos regularly come onto the property.

Rates for 2010 (all rates include GST)

The following rates are per person per night - minimum 2 night stay.

Summer rates - 1 November to 30 April
Weekends and public holidays:  
$45 pn

Sunday evening to Friday morning:  
$40 pn

The minimum summer rate at weekends is $1,080 for 2 nights. The midweek minimum rate is $960 for 2 nights. These minimum rates are equivalent to having twelve people for 2 nights.

 

Winter rates - 1 May to 31 October

Weekends and public holidays:  
$50 pn

Sunday evening to Friday morning:  
$47 pn

The minimum winter rate at weekends is $1,200 for 2 nights. The midweek minimum rate is $1,128 for 2 nights. These minimum rates are equivalent to having twelve people for 2 nights.

Children using beds and facilities are adult price. Babies in own bassinets/cots are free of charge.

Special Rates are available for those groups staying longer than 3 nights and for smaller groups wishing to use the main house only.

Please Note

No pets are allowed inside at Rydal Mount. For the comfort of others and to meet our insurance requirements we require that there is no smoking inside any of the buildings.

Rydal Mount is available to only one group at any one time. All facilities, including dining, lounge and conference rooms, mountain bikes and games are available without additional charge to residents.

It is generally acceptable for resident groups to have a small number of visitors (max. 4 persons) for an occasional day visit or meal. If you have a larger number of visitors, or there are people sleeping elsewhere but using the facilities at Rydal Mount, a charge will be made on a per day or per meal basis for each visitor.

Deposit and Cancellation Conditions

Unless otherwise agreed, a deposit of $250 is required within three weeks of making a tentative booking. The deposit is forfeited if cancellation is made less than 65 days before the commencement date of the booking. However the deposit will be refunded in part or in full after 65 days if another person or organisation takes up a booking for the cancelled time.

Conference room and Special Functions

The Conference Rooms and all other facilities are included in the daily per person rate for those staying at Rydal Mount. The Conference Room is available for separate daytime rentals for organisations not requiring accommodation at Rydal Mount. Rates available on request. The rate of $220 per day (9 am-5 pm) for up to 20 people is given as a guideline.

The use of Rydal Mount for special functions, such as weddings, will be considered on an individual basis.

Catering

Our caterer, Rosie Wynter, is able to provide a range of good quality meals at reasonable prices. A menu is available. Alternatively, Rydal Mount can be hired (at the same rates as shown above) on a self-catering basis where those in residence can do their own cooking. The kitchen should be left clean and tidy (we do not expect the floors to be cleaned), otherwise a cleaning fee may be deducted from the deposit.
